MeshHub isn't decentralized as a slogan — it's a set of design decisions, and every one of them points the same direction.
Every message you send over Reticulum, Meshtastic, or MeshCore is encrypted before it ever leaves your phone. No plain-text hop in the middle to intercept.
MeshHub never asks who you are. Your identity is a cryptographic address you generate yourself — not a phone number, email, or account tied back to you.
There's no company logging your messages, building a profile on you, or with anything to sell — because there's no company sitting between you and the person you're talking to.
Messages hop directly between radios and devices. There's no server to subpoena, no company to pressure, and no single point of failure to take offline.
With no central infrastructure, there's nothing to seize, block, or order shut down. As long as radios are in range of each other, the network keeps working.
Every phone and radio is a full peer, not a client checking in with a service somewhere. That's what "no accounts" actually means in practice.
Each network solves a different problem. MeshHub doesn't merge them into one protocol — it just gives you one place to read and write to all three.

Reticulum isn't tied to one type of connection. It can carry your messages over LoRa radios, packet radio, Wi‑Fi and regular IP networks, and serial or USB links — hopping across whichever combination connects you and the other person, automatically. That means it can run entirely off-grid over long-range radio, ride on top of an existing Wi‑Fi network or the internet when that's available, or blend both. It's encrypted end-to-end by design, so there's no separate step to turn security on.
All of that runs quietly underneath MeshHub already — you don't pick transports, edit config files, or read documentation to use it. Install the app and it's already there, working. No setup screens, no pre-configuring anything. It works straight out of the box.
Meshtastic is popular for good reason, but it was never designed to guarantee delivery. When a channel gets busy, "sent" quietly stops meaning "arrived."
Meshtastic caps every message at a maximum of 7 hops — after that it's gone, no matter how close the recipient actually is. And that budget burns fast: any node not set to Client_Mute rebroadcasts everything it hears by default, chewing through your message's hop count on relays that have nothing to do with your conversation.
Meshtastic spreads messages by having each node repeat what it hears. That works fine for a handful of devices — at real-world scale it means collisions, airtime congestion, and packets that quietly never arrive.
Meshtastic doesn't hold a message for you while you're offline. If your phone or node isn't listening at the exact moment the packet passes through, it's already retried its handful of times and moved on — there's nothing waiting for you when you come back.
Public channels share the same limited airtime. Telemetry pings, position updates, and everyone else's chatter are all competing with your message for a slot to transmit in.
MeshHub can't change LoRa physics or duty-cycle regulations — nobody can. What it does is make sure a dropped Meshtastic packet isn't your only shot at reaching someone: the same conversation can go out over Reticulum's encrypted, multi-path routing or a MeshCore repeater at the same time, and you get a clear Sent / Delivered / Failed status for each network instead of silence. If one radio is congested, out of range, or duty-cycle limited, you're not stuck waiting on it — you've got two other paths already working.

Reticulum and Meshtastic messages upgrade automatically from Sent to Delivered once the other side confirms, or Failed if they didn't get it. MeshCore currently shows Sent only, clearly labeled, since that radio doesn't hand back a confirmation the same way.
Give anyone across any network a friendly display name the moment they message you, and start a new conversation with them later without hunting for a raw address.
If a message comes in while you're not looking at the app, you get an Android notification in the shade — tap it and it opens straight back into MeshHub.
MeshHub itself just installs on your phone. Which radio hardware you pair it with depends on which network you want to talk on — you don't need all three.

Since MeshHub isn't distributed through the Play Store, Android will show a warning (usually "Play Protect doesn't recognize this app") before installing — that's expected for any app installed this way, just tap "install anyway" to continue.
